We sat down with Cybersecurity Engineer Taylor White to ask him Five Questions about his new career move.

Q: How long have you worked for GM Financial?

A: I started as a contractor in October 2020, and then converted to full time in September 2021. I was feeling some job burnout before I started contracting with GM Financial, and the move allowed me to get my foot in the door.

Q: Can you tell us a little about how you made the switch to cybersecurity?

A: My manager was impressed with my work ethic and approached me with the new opportunity in December. This is the first job where someone has taken an interest in my career and helped me grow. In the past, usually you have to just leave if you want to change roles.

Q: You haven’t been in the role very long, but can you share a little bit about what you have been working on since you started last month?

A: I was doing Mac and Windows support in my prior role, but now I’m a cybersecurity engineer. We implement solutions in the environment and troubleshoot anything that breaks. Right now, I am learning all the tools and how they work.

Q: What is your favorite part about the work you do?

A: The ability to learn—I get to learn new technology every day and how different things work.

Q: What is something about you that we couldn’t learn from your LinkedIn profile?
A: I love playing disc golf. I have played for about 15 years and have tried practically every course in DFW.
